A Mexican Halloween Affair: Cigar and Mezcals - Thursday 31st October 2024

We are delighted to present this pairing of…Cigars and Mezcal? Yes, we are telling you it is a superb pairing. But don’t take our word for it, we’re hosting event for you to find out for yourself. We’ve paired with tequila a couple times but have yet to try Mezcal. Naturally, it is a great fit to complement each other seeing the Mezcal has a “smoky” and “grassy” profile. Alongside a full-bodied cigar it will, at the very least, make an interesting pairing.

We’ve chosen Foundation Cigars’ Olmec Grande (6'' x 60) for this pairing. We were delighted to be the host for the UK launch of the Olmec for Nick Murillo and Foundation Cigars back in May. A cigar greatly received by guests and customers since, Nick’s propensity to look at the character and emotion of his cigar brands to create truly unique cigars through inspirational stories and history endears him and his brand to many. Joining us on the evening will be our great friend and a true cigar savant George Frakes, director of 1573 Cigars, to talk about the history of the Olmec and how it ties into this wonderful Mexico inspired pairing.

We will be sampling a few Los Siete Misterios Mezcals as we will be guided through it by Gabriela Moncada, agave ambassador at Speciality Brands. Mezcal has a distinctive flavour profile and has a unique methodology for creation, so for that reason alone we had to bring this great artisanal spirit into our sampling lounge for a pairing.

Join us this Halloween, which is also the start of Mexico’s Day of the Dead holidays, as we sample Foundation Cigar’s Olmec and three Los Siete Misterios Mezcals. This is scheduled to be our penultimate cigar sampling event of 2024, so join us for a frighteningly excellent pairing on St James’s Street.
